If you're interested in this career, you should know that you need to go to school. Pick a technical college and get a degree in electronics or mechanical or manufacturing technology. You have to be willing to start in an entry-level position and work your way (prove yourself) to the top pay.
I would recommend this career to anyone who has a technical aptitude for mechanics and computers/electronics and is willing to work hard.
If I had to do things all over again, I would do something else. But that's just me. My heart and passion are in aviation, not in electronics or mechanics.
The work can be very rewarding in the sense that you can work hard and be proud of a day's work done well. On the other hand, some tasks can be repetitive, and the environmental conditions are not always the best (depending on where you work).
