IU South Bend's enrollment in the fall semester of 2004 was 7,501 students, of whom
3,740 (50%) were full time. Undergraduates accounted for 6,322 (84%)
students, while graduate students accounted for 1,179.Most IU South Bend students are white Indiana residents. Of students enrolled in
fall 2004, 476 (6.3%) were African-American, 192 (2.6%) were Hispanic, 95 (1.3%) were
Asian, 40 (.5%) were Native
American, and 6,698 (89.3%) were "other." More women, 4,243 attended IU South Bend than men, 2,455. Despite IU South Bend's
proximity to the state of Michigan, 7,113 (95%) of its students in the fall
semester of 2004 were Hoosiers.
