ENJOY THE TRADITION! College can be the greatest time of your life, and you don't have to get drunk to do it. Once you've figured out where all your classes are, and fall into some sort of routine - than you can figure out what other things you can do, but don't overload yourself. The Homecoming Bonfire is a must for everybody. And attend every home football game. And when things start feeling like there getting to be too much, than take a stroll down University Blvd and take it all in, breath deep and enjoy the moment.

The University of Alabama was named a top 50 public university in the U.S.This university is ranked among the top four flagship universities in the Southeast and among the nation's top 25 public flagship universities in terms of minority enrollment.It has a healthy student life component which is essential for a student.

University of Alabama is very easy to overlook as a college, however, given the choice I would not go anywhere else UA combines a huge amount of well ranked college majors with a very "small school" mentality: even topping 25,000 students, it is still a relatively easy task to contact the president directly to voice your concerns. As a chemistry major here, I can only truly note that we have some of the best research teams working currently, and undergraduate research opportunities are abundant. UA has been one of my greatest life experiences, and I cant imagine having gone anywhere else without missing out on the multitude of experiences I have had here, both in and out of the classroom

I'm currently a student, majoring in journalism, at the University of Alabama. I would have to say I'm very happy with my decision, despite turning down full scholarships to Ole Miss and Tennessee. Several attributes attracted me to Alabama: atheletics, academics and gentility. Alabama is a school full of tradition. The University boasts 15 national debate team championships, 12 national football championships, 4 national gymnastics championships and other numerous awards. It consistently ranks high on several USA Today lists. Overall, the University allows you to gain experience in your respected field, something I think a lot of universities miss the boat on. I made friends easily and there's always something to do on campus. The cons of the campus would mostly be from "The Master Plan." The president, Robert Witt, has introduced a plan to increase enrollment to 28,000. This has led to congestion on campus and lack of space. While the University is in transition, the goals of the plan are extraordinary. Among the goals include: transforming the University to a walking campus (no cars), adding a successful transit system and improving the university academically. I think the plan is working, but the transition is tough for current students. If I had to choose between another campus and this one, i would definitely choose this one. It's friendly. It allows you to excel in your field. It allows you to grow as a person.
