OU is the top school in its fields for a number of specialties, particularly if you want to be a Petroleum Engineer, Meteorologist, or do anything with the American West or Native American history, culture, or languages. The school tends to be a little overly bureaucratic, with limits the opportunities for interdisciplinary endeavors, but overall is a great place to learn and to be part of a learning community. For graduate students, Norman is a nice, quiet town despite its size. There are lots of great places to live nearby, and the Oklahoma City metro area was recently noted for some of the lowest rent rates in the country.

It is a large public University who's reputation continues to increase. Although it is a bit of a party school, it is less of one than UCO or OSU. The greek population is large, but you can be very involved without being part of a frat or sorority. IF you can get into a much better school I would recommend it unless youc an go to OU for free. Though OU is a good school, it will somewhat limit your options when looking at graduate or professional school. A higher ranked state school or a good private school will be better suited to moving on to a top ranked graduate program.

This is a great school! The campus always has something to do and the town is big enough to provide entertainment too. The classes are, for the most part, entertaining enough to make it worth your while to go to class. During the warmer months the campus is great to hang out on because there is lots of green space. One thing to watch out for is the local police department. They seem to look for reasons to harrass students!

While the University of Oklahoma is a very large student population, I always felt that I received a lot of individual attention from my professors and the faculty. It is a beautiful campus, and the overall environment is warm and welcoming. My major complaint is that there was not enough adequate parking for students. Sometimes I had to walk nearly an hour to get to a class. This university was the second I attended in my college career. The first was a much smaller private university. I preferred the University of Oklahoma because of the variety of activities available to students. I enjoyed that I didn't know everyone I met, because it made my collegiate world more similiar to that of the real world. There was always someone new to meet, but there was also plenty of room to have my own space when I wanted to be anonymous. I would advise that students who are college bound visit the colleges they are considering before making any final decisions.
