Computer Science:

I recommend studying this. TIP: Take many non-java programming classes. Employers look for skills outside of Java. PRO: Encourages creativity and ingenuity for the completion of tasks. CON: Economy goes in cycles. It isn't likely that you'll lose your job, but some years are easier for college students to get a job. Best to enter as a freshman when jobs are scarce... by the time you graduate the number of new jobs will be greater. (This is practically another tip)

Computer Programming / Programmer, General:

Computer Science is a cutting-edge science that is constantly evolving. Learning programming/developing is fun; however, you may find yourself taking about the same amount of math courses as a math major. Math, in particular, wasn't really helpful in my Computer/Technology career. Most important, you must keep abreast of emerging computer-driven technologies or you might limit your earning potential. If I had to do it all over again, I would probably choose Computer Science. I highly recommend Computer Science or any other computer-driven technology.

Computer Graphics:

I did enjoy the Computer Art major while I was in school, and it was definitely a good learning experience. I felt that I got a lot of varied study, from Fine Art to Graphics to Programming. However... it is also a very rough degree to have when you're out of college. I would definitely suggest getting either a full-on Computer Science degree and minoring, or going full-on the other way with art. With the degree I have now, it is very difficult to find positions because I'm not completely qualified for either programming or art, and must find either very niche jobs that fit what I studied or hope for some charity.

It takes a lot of dedication and diligence to become a computer programmer. You must use your head and logic your way through things. It is a very rewarding occupation because there is high demand for it.

Computer Science:

Computer science has been at the epicenter of the technology revolution for several decades now. If you are looking for a challenging, interesting field to study computer science is one of the best. The field is changing rapidly, on a daily basis. Not that I mind it, but people come to me all day long to fix their computer problems. While this isn't what I do, I program, I am usually happy to help people where I can. I would advise anyone interested in studying this field to teach themselves aggressively every day. Don't wait to get to college to begin.

Computer Software Technology / Technician:

I've always been fascinated with computers.It's been my desire to learn as much about them and know how to communicate with a computer system.Hence,a major in computer software was most enjoyable as it gave me an in-depth knowledge of how to program a computer. The degree has indeed been helpful in my career.I got a white collared job with a multi-national.The salary was quite decent and the working environment very nice.I was surrounded by very smart people and it was great fun to interact with them. I would definitely study this course again if given a chance.The filed of computer software is expremely stimulating and rewarding.

The skills acquired are invaluable. Clear, logical thinking and the ability to break things down into simple pieces are valuable regardless of whether or not you pursue a career in the field. What you can do in your spare time with your programming skills is at least as valuable as employment.

Computer Science:

For anyone considering Computer Science be prepared to program, do mathematical calculations and many other things that will keep you busy into the wee hours of the morning.
I would recommend studying this if you are dead set on computers and programming. If you aren't all that into math and programming, you might want to consider something different. This is a difficult field of study and for those who are truly dedicated to the science.
If I had to do it all over again, I'd probably choose something else. I could have done without all the unnecessary math and all the programming I wasn't all that into. And to make it all worse, I never really got a job. I did, but it's not really what I wanted and the pay isn't great. However, I didn't leave and move to a city, so I can't complain too much.
The pros of Computer Science, is that it's a good field to study and know. It's good for those interested in math and programming. It will teach you the In's and outs of programming.
The cons are that you will have to do a ton of various math courses and various programming courses. It's a lot of work and you'll have to do a lot of studying.

Computer Science:

Well, I attended the faculty of medicine for four years, I would become a doctor, but then I quit, because it was all about memorizing. Then I graduated from Computer Science Engineering (CSE) which doesn't involve that much memorizing, on the other hand it involves a lot of thinking and it involves a lot of reading too. I think medicine and CSE are two extreme majors; one has the most memorizing and the other has the most thinking. CSE is about learning to use your brain to solve problems, and about learning to learn, because it is a very broad subject. CSE is a difficult major, and if you are not keen on it, you may have difficulties, but do not get discouraged, after a little time you'll get used to it; everybody is a bit surprised in the beginning, understanding the computer takes a while. CSE is a very contemporary major, on the other hand a lot of people are in the computer business, so there is a lot of competition, and everything is changing very fast in the computer industry.

Computer Science:

I highly recommend this major for anyone who has the "knack" for computers and programming. However, it is not for everyone. If you like solving puzzles, this major may be for you (warning though: you'll be solving puzzles 8 hours a day, 5 days a week).

Computer Science:

For people considering this major, I'd like to mention it involves a ton of math. It requires almost any math you can think of. You definitely need to be prepared, on top of your game, and always studying. Things in this field are always changing, so what you learn isn't always what's going to be held true the next year and so on. It's an on going process.
I would recommend studying this field if you really enjoy computers, programming, and are really dedicated and passionate to the cause.
If I had to do it all over again, I might go with Info. Technology instead of Computer Science, but I definitely do not regret a minute of my studies of this field.
The pros are: It's one of the better paying fields in the end.
The cons are: Tons of math, a lot of studying, a lot of programming and spending a little too much time with computers. (unless you like that..)

Computer Science:

Unfortunately, in the tech world, this is about the equivalent of a high school diploma. I think that while techies like to see some college, they'd like to see a more specialized degree, or experience is more important. Especially right now a lot of parents are pushing their kids into comp sci programs because "that's where the money is at" so you get people graduating with degrees that aren't really all that excited about the profession and can turn a computer off and on and install some memory into it and that's about it. I think if you are looking to get this degree, choose a specialized version of it, or double major.

Artificial Intelligence and Robotics:

tips: study this because you love it technically, not because of potential money

would definite still choose this major: computer science and AI / machine learning are even more interesting now than 10 years ago

pros: technically very challenging and stimulating; good money and colleagues; web search has made even more in demand

cons: career stagnation possible if not supplement technical advancement with management or project lead experience

Computer Science:

It certainly gave me a good theoretical background on the required topics and let me get more in-depth on some things I would normally not necessarily have looked into as much (I'm thinking mostly about processor design and assembly language). Those probably help in an abstract way later on to better understand consequences of what you are doing when writing code in a HL, but ultimately the major was very theoretical and of little practical use. It ended up boring me.

Computer Systems Analysis / Analyst:

Learn a newer language such as .NET C#, Java or Python. To stay employed for the long term, you will need to be constantly learning new techniques and tools to get the job done. I would probably choose another major if I could start over. The money is sometimes good, but many developers/analysts/engineers and sysadmin/dba people are on pagers, so that must be factored in. Some companies allow working from home, a.k.a. telecommuting. Sitting in front of a computer 8 hours a day is not the most thrilling or healthy thing to be doing.
