  Yes Sales is always a good career path.3 out of every 4 CEOs has sales background.Yes I recommend this career.I still choose to go into this career.The positive aspects of this career is you can earn quick money and also get recognition in the organization. The negative is huge sales target. This high pressure job which makes demanding for the individual.

  Anyone considering this profession needs to be confortable working with the public, and be able to remain calm and professional in demeanor even when a customer or employee is not.

The income potential can vary significantly depending upon the business and where you rank as manager within the company.

Most retail businesses have evening and weekend hours. This can be considered a perk because your day off may end up being a weekday, making it easier to make appointments and run errands. Also, places like amusement parks and museums are normally a lot less crowded during the weekday, and who wouldn't like not having to wait in line?

I could go back in time I would still choose this profession. I have been a retail manager for over 15 years. Some experiences were great, some not so great, but I am happy with the company I am with and the products that I am selling.

  Only go in to this knowing you will work holidays, especially the day after Thanksgiving through Christmas. Don't expect many days off with the family during this time. Also, don't expect many weekends off. Don't rely on your days off to stick, especially if you are salaried. Customers can be a nightmare and most of the time are. If your sales associates mess up one thing, you will hear about it. If I could do it over again, I would not choose this career. I have been in it so long that to change careers now would require me to take a pay cut. The pay is good when you are salaried but when you look at the hours you put in, you are barely making above minimum wage. Working 70 hours a week can put a huge strain on your personal life and does take a toll on you during the holidays.

  I love retail management. The instant results you see everyday in your sales results is great. My favorite thing about working in retail is the variety of daily tasks. No two days are the same and there is plenty to keep you busy. I would definetly continue with retail. The pay isn't always great so look for a successful, established company or a newer company willing to pay more to get the right people in the door.

  Retail sales management can be very rewarding, but can also be incredibly demanding of both your personal time and stress levels (or lack thereof). In considering a career in retail sales management, look at the company you plan on working for. How is your compensation structured? Will a standard month pay enough to cover your bills plus leave a considerable amount left over for "fun" money (trust me, you'll need it)? Depending on the industry and company, it's not uncommon for retail sales managers to earn in the $50k - $75k range annually. Of course, a manager of a corporate wireless store will earn more than a manager of a trinket kiosk, so your mileage may vary. Remember that as a retail manager, you will never have a day off -- you WILL be working on your scheduled days off, you WILL be taking phone calls on your vacation, and you WILL be expected to fix everything that crops up. Make sure you are well compensated. Also consider how much free reign you'll have with your store. Will you be able to make any necessary changes such as remerchandising or staff realignment? There's nothing more frustrating than being brought in as a new manager to fix a failing store, then being told "but don't touch anything". Finally, and perhaps most importantly, consider how comfortable you are dealing with people. You will work with customers who are frustrated at your employees or your company, often to the point of irrational behavior -- and it's your job to fix their problem. Are you comfortable with the idea of listening to someone rant 'n' rave for ten minutes, then doing everything in your power to make them happy? If the compensation is substantially higher than other potential job offers, take a look. Just be absolutely certain to get a clear picture of your employer's expectations before you start.

  I have been in the wireless industry for almost seven years and I love it. For people that are looking to get into sales they should consider the wireless industry. The wireless industry is an ever growing industry allowing for job security. They only negative thing that I can think of is the customer that doesnt want to listen to what you are saying, but you get that anywhere. Pay in this sales field is great and should be considered.

  There are alot of things I like a bout my Career. First I should start by telling you that i am the assastant manager at a local EB Games store. This is fun and has some rewarding benifits. Im 25 years old, love games and people. I have my own staff, and get to see the latest in games. whats comming out and what people are trading in the only thing I don't like is I don't think my store has enough hours to give out to regular game advisers. There never seems to be enough help so i have to work much longer hours than I am scheduled just to get the store back into shape for the next day Some advice to others considering going into my field. You need to like people a lot, you have to be tolerant of problems, and have to be able to manage time well.

  I am part-owner operator of a retail store. Owning your own retail business is not easy. It is not something you can go into unless you have a lot of money saved up, because you probably won't turn a profit for several years. Whatever you think your startup expenses will be, they are going to be a lot more. Everything adds up. THis is especially the case in my business, high-end a/v. Things go obsolete fast, and you have to buy new stuff all the time.

  Pick a more exciting career. It has become difficult to find motivated help, and customers have become ruder and more demanding than ever. If I had the opportunity to start again, I would not choose any retail career. The positive aspects are the few customers who appreciate your efforts and the few employees who care about their job performance. Both are rarely encountered.

  Advise or tips : Always be on look out for new opportunities where you might be able to promote your product. Keep your personal problems aside while handling customers and the employees of the sales team. Be cheerful always.
I will recommend this career to any person who is ready to face the challenges and ready to take ups and downs with a smile, and who does not get tensed up or irritated easily.
pros and cons :a good moral booster, success depends on another persons interests.
People should know about this career because most people think it is and out of bounds job. Not interesting and bound by targets,
This job is bound by targets but the satisfaction gained when you settle a sale is too good. Also the people you can meet in the process and understanding their requirements and learning about their requirements etc is really interesting.
